21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art
A fabulous collection of Japanese and international art since 1980
Explore Kanazawa's contemporary art museum under the wing of a gallery curator. The museum's clever architecture uses glass to bring Kanazawa's cityscape inside making the city itself an integral part of the art, while the lack of a front or back entrance means there is no right or wrong way to view each artwork. The collection focuses on Japanese and international art since 1980 and includes pieces by Andy Warhol, Grayson Perry, Anish Kapoor and Kusama Yayoi among others. Leandro Elrich's swimming pool is a highlight which visitors enter from below beneath the water.
