J-Pop star for second world tour
Japanese pop star Kyary Pamyu Pamyu announced her second world tour yesterday (January 21st ) on stage in front of 12,000 adoring fans at the Yokohama Arena after performing.
The fashion model turned singer became a hit in 2011 when her debut music video PonPonPon, written and produced by Nakata Yasutaka of Capsule fame, went viral across the world.
Following the announcement of the new tour, a press release was issued from her management company saying that the shows will feature acrobatics, fantastic costumes, and even a fanciful stage battle in true Kyary Pamyu Pamyu style.
Dates for the tour have yet to be released, but it was confirmed that a number of prominent North American cities will play host to the singer, including Seattle, San Francisco and Chicago.
Canada will also host a show, as well as England, France, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu expressed her gratitude at her concert after performing her latest hit single Yume no Hajimarinrin which goes on sale February 26th.
"The reason that only three years after my debut I now have the opportunity to sing on this great stage is because of you! I had such a great time, thank you everyone," she told the crowd.
While Japanese pop fanatics adore the singing superstar, her popularity has even extended to Hollywood, where she was handpicked to record the theme song for the Japanese release of Star Trek: Into the Darkness by director JJ Abrams himself.
The singer's previous world tour entitled The 100% Kyary Pamyu Pamyu World Tour 2013 featured 13 concerts in eight cities and visited Europe, the US and Asia.
Those wishing to get an authentic taste of Japanese pop need only visit one of Japan's thousands of karaoke bars, where they can fully expect to be handed a handset to select their song, as well as plenty of cheering and support.
