The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Broomfield, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan holidays and tours.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.

Proof that you can be a vegetarian in Japan!

It is Simon who can perhaps be credited with the spark of inspiration that led from the outer reaches of the Siberian wilderness to the creation of InsideJapan Tours.

When Simon arrived at Nagoya Komaki airport for the first time in 1997, what immediately struck him about Japan was that it was very, very different from the UK. Though he sometimes missed British food, Simon loved his time in Japan for all kinds of reasons. His teaching job was great (he loved working with both the students and the teachers), the food was delicious, he made loads of good friends and the live music scene was excellent.

Though originally from Dorset, these days Simon is based in Bristol with his wife, daughter Florence and baby Columba - the newest addition to the family. As co-Director of the company he takes care of the finance, personnel and office management end of things - as well as overseeing product development and group tours.

Outside of Japan, Simon has travelled all over Europe and Southeast Asia, where he enjoys indulging his passion for trying new foods, walking in the countryside and drinking plenty of good wine and beer. When he isn't in the office or at home, Simon can be found travelling to new and undiscovered places, going for hikes or perhaps enjoying a nice pint of real ale at the local pub.

Where is your favourite place in Japan?

"Of everywhere I've visited in Japan, I think I'd say that Kamikochi in the Japan Alps is my favourite. It's a beautiful place and I have lots of fond memories of it."
