A slice of Okinawa in London
London’s Spitalfields market is bringing a slice of tropical Japan to the capital city with Okinawa Day on Saturday 25th June. This is the second year for the free event showcasing Okinawan culture with music, traditional dance, karate, crafts and food. The Okinawan sub-tropical islands are approximately 1500 kilometres from the Japanese capital of Tokyo and a million miles away in terms of its atmosphere which is laid back. The region is famed for beautiful beaches and some of the best diving in the world, but there are some secrets too with Yonaguni’s mystery historical underwater stone complex and Iriomote’s dense jungle which is home to a rare wild cat. InsideJapan Tours will be at the event ready and willing to discuss any of the Okinawan islands along with anywhere else in Japan. http://www.okinawaday.org.uk/index.html
