1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
Very well organised with attention to detail and customer service. We loved our experience in Japan and our tour guide was fantastic. The tour had been well organised and we packed a fair amount in. We were a bit shrined / templed out some days but that is the essence of Japan. The weather was on the whole good, with a couple of wet days, when we discovered the Japanese umbrella. The worst tour venue was to the Kinkakuji golden temple on an incredibly wet morning, when it was completely heaving with tourists. Unpleasant. The local guide did what she could, but I was relieved to get back on to the coach. The ryokan and hot spring bath was a special experience, but I wouldn't have wanted to spend more than one night here, due to the very fishy breakfast and more basic facilities. The staff here were delightful.

Fergal did an amazing job. He was exactly the right person for this job and managed everything brilliantly. He kept calm at all times and had a good sense of humour. He was approachable and did what he could to support any additional requests or issues. His knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Japanese was impressive.

4. How would you rate your package in terms of value for money?

5. How would you rate the accommodation against your expectations?
I liked all the hotels we stayed in . Breakfast was always an amazing event and the Japanese toilets an endless source of fascination. Niwa was well placed, but my favourite was the Hilton at Hiroshima, mostly for the view from our room, pool at 6.15 in the morning before the days activities and excellent cake!

6. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
We covered a lot of ground, but didnt seem to spend excessive amounts of time travelling, so it was probably broken up well. We enjoyed the Shinkansen.

7. Please tell us your thoughts on the meals included during your tour.
I struggled with the food, due to the amount of fish eaten in Japan. My husband loved every mouthful, so you cant please all the people. Fergal did help me out a few times with finding alternatives and he did what he could to ensure I got hold of something. The group meals were generally good, but we found the tapas-style, small dish sharing set up awkward.

We had a great experience and enjoyed being able to relax and not worry about organising things ourselves. Insider knowledge was brilliant and we also enjoyed having someone to explain the culture and history as we travelled. We would now have greater confidence to travel to Japan under our own steam, but could look to tag this on to a different IJ tour.
